Web Cam

Has any one got there web cam to work in beta 2 yet . I have two web cams one 3com and one logitech both not working any know how to make them work. -- Larry

I've got 4 webcams on my network, 3 x Mikomi (Argos special) and 1 x from Vimicro Corp. The Mikomi's I can't get working, but the other one which I paid £10 for at a computer fair (fairs.co.uk) works fine.

What did you do to make it work? I can't get my Intel webcam to work, even though the drivers are installed and it is listed in device manager as working.

I have a really old USB Logitech webcam, and after installing the driver for it, it does work. However it does not have the same functionality that it has in Windows XP. For instance, in XP, I can use it to take still pictures via Explorer. Vista Beta 2 will not let me do that. In XP I could import into Photoshop a still image straight from the webcam via TWAIN or WIA. The only way I even know the webcam does in fact work in Vista Beta 2 is that it works fine with Windows Live Messenger.

Perhaps the Logitech works better than the Intel webcam. Mine is pretty old so even though MS Vista installs the drivers, they are the same old drivers I used in WinXP (where they worked fine). They defintitely don't work in Vista. If anyone has that webcam (the CS331) working in Vista, please respond and let me know. Thanks!

Hello,
Have you tried installing the drivers by using the 'Haven't got disk' option when Windows asks you for drivers?
This
helped, and worked, for the drivers on my motherboard (sound etc.)

Yes, I did try that method, and the drivers installed just as they did when Vista automatically installed them. The problem is, the drivers don't work, even though the OS says they are installed and working correctly. I've uninstalled them, reinstalled them, asked Vista to find current drivers, etc. The only drivers available (and the ones that Vista installs) are dated 2001. It's no wonder they don't work!
